Which system fits your home

Most homes do not need the biggest system, and a good many are sold one anyway. This is how sizing actually works, so you can arrive at the answer yourself before anyone quotes you.

Start with the short answer

Three questions get you to the suite that fits. Everything below this box is the reasoning behind it, so you can check the answer rather than take it on trust.

Nothing is sent anywhere — this works entirely in your browser.

On a private well or a small rural district? These three suites are sized for city water. A well is a different question — iron, hardness, nitrate and bacteria vary property to property, so the equipment is built from a laboratory result rather than a bathroom count. That one is Providence, scoped to your water.

It is about flow, not floor area

Square footage is the number everyone asks about and very nearly the wrong one. What actually decides your system is peak flow — the most water your house can demand at the same moment.

Undersize the system and you get pressure drop when the house is busy — the shower goes weak when the washing machine fills. Oversize it and you have paid for flow that sits unused, because the water is treated to exactly the same standard either way. That second mistake is the more common one, and it is the more expensive.

Treatment level is a separate question

Size and treatment are two different decisions and it helps to take them one at a time. Two of our suites deliberately share a size band: Primary and Heritage fit the same houses. What separates them is not how much water they handle but how far that water is treated — Heritage adds the certified cyst-reduction stage and a permanent pre-filter. Choosing between those two is about what you want removed, not about how big your house is.

Two floor plans compared. In a two-bedroom home, one Sevade filtration system sits where the water main enters and feeds the kitchen sink, the primary bath and the second bath. In a four-bedroom home the same single system feeds the kitchen and four separate bathrooms.
One system, fitted where the main enters the house, treats every tap behind it — kitchen, showers, basins and all. What changes between these two houses is not the idea, it is how much water can be drawn at once. That is what the suites are sized against.

A tick means the system carries that capability as standard. Certifications are component-level and are listed in full on each system page. No whole-home system here claims to reduce PFAS, lead, arsenic, pesticides, herbicides, bacteria or viruses — the NSF/ANSI 58 claims belong to the Wellspring point-of-use unit alone, and that certification is held by its manufacturer, Nimbus Water Systems. Providence is scoped rather than priced on this page because it is built from a test result — that is not a way of saying it costs more. A well design carries only the stages the results call for, which can land either side of the suites beside it.

Primary

Entry-level whole-home suite

$947
Home size

Homes up to about 3½ bathrooms — roughly 3,500 sq ft

Choose it when

Municipal water, and you want the chlorine, sediment and scale dealt with — nothing further.

What sets the limit is flow, not floor area. Fifteen gallons a minute carries two showers, a kitchen tap, a dishwasher and a laundry all drawing at once, which covers most homes up to about 3,500 square feet and a household of six. Primary and Heritage are rated at the same 15 GPM and fit the same size of home — what separates them is how far the water is treated, not how much of it they pass.

Heritage

The Sevade flagship suite

$7,132
Home size

Same band as Primary — up to about 3½ bathrooms

Choose it when

You want the certified cyst-reduction stage and a permanent pre-filter. Wellspring RO included.

Heritage is rated at the same 15 GPM as Primary and suits the same size of home: up to about three and a half bathrooms, roughly 3,500 square feet, a household of six. Choose between the two on treatment rather than size — Heritage adds the certified ultrafiltration stage and the included Wellspring. If your home is larger than that, or fixtures regularly run together across four or more bathrooms, Estate is the one that holds pressure.

Estate

The most complete suite we build

$13,981
Home size

Homes of about 4 bathrooms and up — roughly 3,500 sq ft and larger

Choose it when

Four or more bathrooms can draw at once, or irrigation or a pool runs off the treated line.

Thirty gallons a minute on 1″ connections is what a home needs once four or more bathrooms can draw together, and it is the right answer at any size if irrigation, a pool fill or a shop tap runs off the treated line. Below that, the extra flow sits unused and Heritage treats the water identically — most homes genuinely do not need this tier.

Providence

Scoped to your water
Home size

Any size — sized to the property, for wells and rural districts

Choose it when

Your water comes from a private well or a small rural district rather than the city main.

Providence is not chosen by square footage. It is chosen by supply: if your water comes from a private well or a small rural district, the design starts from a laboratory analysis and the system is sized to your household demand and your results, whatever the size of the home. A custom design is not automatically a larger or costlier one — it is the one that matches.

Two things that override everything above

Where your water comes from. If it arrives from a private well or a small rural district rather than a city main, none of the size bands apply in the usual way. Well water is a different problem — iron, sulfur, sediment and bacteria vary by the season and by the depth of the bore, and the equipment is built around a test result rather than a bathroom count. That is what Providence is: quoted after testing rather than picked off a list. Custom does not mean large. A well design can come in simpler than a standard whole-home suite, because you are buying the stages your results call for rather than a bigger version of the same thing.

Your incoming pressure. Every one of these systems takes some pressure to push water through the media, and below about 50 psi at the inlet a booster pump has to go in with it. It is not a large expense, but it is a real one, your plumber prices it with the rest of their labor, and it is the kind of thing that turns up on the day if nobody measured for it. We measure static pressure at the tap before anything is ordered, for exactly that reason.

What we check before anything is ordered

Flow rate at the tap, static pressure, bathroom and fixture count, where the main enters the house and what there is to mount to, and whether irrigation or a pool is fed off the treated line — that last one catches people out, because a sprinkler system running through the filter can double your throughput and halve your cartridge life.

The guide above will get you very close. It is a guide, not a rule, and if your house sits on a boundary between two suites we would rather come and look than have you guess. It costs nothing, and we will tell you when the smaller one is the right answer.

Fifteen minutes at your sink settles it. We measure the flow and pressure, count the fixtures, and tell you which suite fits — including when that is the cheaper one.
